H1N1 Jail Scare
Swine flu seems to be causing illness and chaos everywhere, including Collier County jail, located in Naples, FL. Around August 7th, 2009, five inmates were showing flu like symptoms were put in a medical isolation unit. Along with the 5 isolated inmates, an additional 69 inmates were quarantined for 72 hours due to the fact that they had made contact with the ill inmates. The health department recommended that the jail put inmates of cell block to help prevent the spread of the illness. Cell block means that the inmates are not allowed to have contact with other inmates and if it is necessary for inmates to leave the jail they must be wearing masks in order to contain or prevent the spread of the virus.
