The Health Ministry of Nicaragua announced its first swine flu related death. The victim was a 30-year-old female from Cruz del Rio Grande. She was in particularly good health, but the victim was still not able to overcome the virus.

The Health Minister reports that the victim started to experience flu-like symptoms shortly after giving birth to her baby. She delivered he baby by Cesarean section which is how health officials speculate she contracted the flu.

The Nicaraguan Health Ministry reported 543 casesthat all developed in a 72 day time frame. 515 of these patients have recovered, while health officials are still paying close attention to 28. The 28 patients are in critical condition and continue to receibe medication at home.
