Health authorities in Mozambique have confirmed the first case of the H1N1 virus. This first case presided in a 46 year old woman, she was brought to hospital to confirm the findings. The patient just recently returned from a South African excursion, and a few short 72 hours, she started presenting typical symptoms.

The Health Minister said that health authorities are worried, but not overwhelmingly so because they are already taking extra precautions to prevent any other people from crossing the border without being tested.

Health Minister Ivo Garrido called for collective hygiene check up as a way to help prevent the spread of the disease. They are also preparing the medical centers by stocking up on anti-viral drugs, and are prepared to ask the World Health Organization for further help.
