Laos Feeling the Symptoms of the Flu
By the end of August 2009, the Lao government released information about another 43 cases that have developed in this small country nestled between Thailand and Vietnam.
With the newest addition of cases, the country's total now reaches 156 diagnosed patients with confirmed cases with symptoms of the H1N1 virus. These cases have spanned the nations 14 districts and 8 regions.
The Mittaphab Hospital was designated as the country's primary hospital to treat flu patients. The hospital is located in the capital city and has been inundated with an influx of patients.
In response to the heightening number of patients, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh has ordered that health officials enforce additional means of keeping the outbreak under control. As of now, there are no plans to receive vaccines for the country.
