The H1N1 Virus in Hong Kong

As of July 30, 3009, the Department of Health in Hong Kong confirms there are 189 new cases of the influenza virus.  This brings the total of infected Chinese citizens to 3,459 so far. 

 

The Department of Health says that the infected patients are staying in public hospitals for treatment. Of the 37 patients in the hospital - 32 of them are in stable condition, one in serious condition, and four in critical condition.

 

During the month of July, the virus spread to a number of schools and office buildings across the country. School Systems as well as businesses are gearing up for the feared onset of a large scale flu pandemic.

 

The Health Ministry of China has already planned to purchase more Tamiflu and Relenza, and they have asked manufacturers and importers to prepare enough medical masks to be distributed to all of China's citizens.
