Honduras Needs Help
Carlos Aguilar, Health Minister of Honduras confirms the death of the first Honduras citizen. The victim was a 23-year-old pregnant woman who lived in Western Honduras in a rural village.
The woman is among 118 confirmed cases of the swine flu - most of them coming from the Western part of Honduras. San Pedro Sula, located in the North Western section of the country is known as the nation's industrial capital.
With the news of the first Honduran death comes news from the government. They say they are not prepared for a pandemic of such magnitude. The President of the Honduran Chemical and Pharmaceutical Association said that the country does not have access to the vaccine for this illness.
The President of the Association goes on to say that they do have access to generic antiviral drugs, but not enough to service the entire country.
