East Timor

Health officials in East Timor reported a total of 36 suspected cases of the swine flu in twelve of the thirty eight districts and municipalities. Across the country, health officials report a total of 419 people that have been diagnosed, with one known death among them.

The East Timor health department has selected eight hospitals to specifically swine flu patients. These selected hospitals are well versed in dealing with widespread pandemics and are very well stocked and trained in treating patients, because these were the hospitals who handled the outbreak of the avian flu years ago.

The health department claims that they will help to raise another $300,000 to help fund the control of the swine flu. The hospitals are currently equipped with three quarantine rooms, four beds for critically ill patients, and other substantial numbers for mild to moderate patients.
