What New York City Plans to Do
New York City gained a lot of attention when a vice principal in a public school system came down with the flu, and nothing was done about it. Instead New York officials say they are prepared to deal with a widespread outbreak.
The Governor of New York is guaranteeing all public school children a free vaccine in the fall. He feels as though it is imperative to vaccinate school-aged children because this is who it is likely to attack. Also by vaccinating school-aged children, you can almost guarantee that you will prevent the spread of the flu to their families.
He is also asking that all health clinics throughout the city refocus their goals and put their best foot forward to become "flu centers". This will ensure people will know where to go without any hesitation.
