"Bill Frist and his 21st Century Manhattan Project"
In 2005, Bill Frist delivered his "The Manhattan Project for the 21st Century" this speech focused on the American and global threat of infectious diseases. He concentrated on how to prepare the United States for the incrementing threat of a global pandemic.
He called for a mandatory advancement of scientific and technical capabilities to help prevent the onset of a major life-threatening pandemic. The more we are prepared for any type of pandemic the more prepared we will be for a run-away virus that cannot be controlled. Many people in the White House as well as the medical world are in great support of Frist and his efforts to make the world aware of efforts that should be made to prevent the outbreak of the flu.
