Vaccine Trials

On August 13, 2009 the United States enlisted the help of hundreds of Utah citizens to test the safety of the new vaccine being created to help prevent the outbreak of the Swine Flu.

Last week, a medical research center in Salt Lake City started the first of its four trials. They are expected to be finished with the trial stage in early September.

They believe to have the right strain to prevent the vaccine, but they are not sure who the vaccine will best benefit.

Clinical trials are being expanded to all different age groups. Many of the first tested are those that in close contact with high susceptible people.
