Albania and the Swine Flu

On August 17, 2009 health authorities confirmed that three more swine-flu cases have surfaced, bring the national total to four.

Laboratory results confirmed that three sailors contracted the virus over the weekend.  Among the four total who have contracted the swine flu, one of them was a student from southern Albania.

The student who goes to school on the Greek border was said to have come down with flu-like symptoms almost two weeks ago.

After the World Health Organization raised alarm, Albanian authorities strengthened their efforts to prepare for the possible spread of the Swine Flu in the country.

Health officials claim that the swine flu has not proved to be as potent as other such viruses in the past, but the fear will be raised in the upcoming months when travel season starts to take off.
