Afghanistan Handles the Swine Flu

News reports claim that Afghanistan officials have quarantined the country's one and only pig.  The pig which had previously been in contact with other livestock in now caged alone.

Pork and Pig products are illegal in Muslim Afghanistan because they are considered irreligious. The one pig was causing concern among citizens of the country, therefore health officials thought it would be necessary to keep the pig isolated.

Many complaints are being brought against the severe actions because there are no confirmed cases of the Swine Flu in Afghanistan, there are no pig farms in Afghanistan, and there are no direct flights between Mexico and Kabul, Afghanistan.

There is not enough knowledge in Afghanistan about the spread of the Swine flu, thus most citizens are unaware and unnecessarily concerned about the spread of the Swine Flu virus.
